Multi-stream video playback

Tator supports simultaneous playback of multiple videos that were recorded in sync, which we refer to as "multi-stream videos". Examples are stereo videos, videos from multiple camera security systems, or videos from multi-modal sensors such as thermal/visible or time-of-flight cameras.

This tutorial will cover multi-stream playback features. For how to create a multi-stream video, see the developer guide on how to configure and create multi-stream videos.

Below is a video covering focus and layout modification:

Try basic playback controls

Multi-stream playback supports all the same features as single stream playback with the exception of quality selection, which must be configured via the advanced settings. Follow the basic playback tutorial on a multi-stream video to see these features.

Focus a single stream

To focus on a single stream, right-click on the video canvas over the area where the stream is displayed. This will display a dropdown. Click Focus Video.

This will set the selected video as the primary video, occupying the majority of the video canvas. Other videos will be stacked in a column to the right.

Try playing the video, pausing, etc. To reset the view, right-click and select Reset Multiview.

Change to horizontal layout

To change the layout to horizontal, right click on the video canvas and select Horizontal Multiview.

This will change the layout to horizontal.

Try playing the video, pausing, etc. To reset the view, right-click and select Reset Multiview.
